📢 CUSTOMER NOTICE: LIBRARIES WILL TEMPORARILY CLOSE DUE TO WEATHER WARNING 📢

Due to the yellow and amber Met Office weather warnings in place, all libraries will close from 3:00pm on the 3 October 2025. Some may close from earlier due to regional conditions.

At this stage, we hope that all libraries will reopen on the 4 October 2025 as normal but we would suggest calling your library before commencing your journey.

All mobile libraries will be off the road on the 3 October and Out of Hours Service will not be available from 3:00pm on the 3 October until normal library opening hours on Saturday Morning.

Seed Library  
New Seed Library in Larne library using repurposed card catalogue furniture.

As well as offering free seeds, the seed libraries also offer growing instructions and advice. The aim of these projects is to promote a ‘borrow, grow, donate’ ethos in local communities and to work with gardening groups to bring the pleasures of growing from seed to a wider audience.

Book Buddies  
Find your book buddy in our box of cuddly toys or dress up from our fancy dress box to help you find your books to read.

Cuddly toys and fancy dress clothes stay in library until your next visit.

Quiet Sensory play in our Sensory Room  

Bring your child/children along to visit the library, borrow books and avail of the toys in our quiet sensory room. 
Please enquire at the desk for use of the room.

Cryptic Colour Corner  
Available daily during library opening hours.

Why not challenge yourself to a puzzle or relax with a colouring sheet.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Monday from 11:00am to 11:30am.

Booking is essential. Will open by phone on Friday at 10:00am for the following week's session and will be on first come first served basis.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Sewing Box

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00am to 12 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Knit and Natter  
Every Wednesday from 11:00am to 12 noon.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Adult Reading Group  
Meets on the last Thursday of the month, from 4:45pm - 5:45pm.
 
The Adult Reading Group for 16's and over gives an opportunity for adults to discuss their latest book.

The Library Men of World War One Exhibition  

An exhibition highlighting how during WW1 11 members of staff from Belfast Public Libraries enlisted in various regiments of the British Army. Over two hundred letters were exchanged between these 'library men' and the Chief Librarian between 1914 and 1919.

Visit our free drop-in service - no appointment needed. Can help with: Hearing aids, including basic repairs and maintenance of NHS hearing aids, information on hearing loss and tinnitus, how to do a hearing check, and how to access support and services in your area.
