Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Monday from 10:45am to 11:15am.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Knit and Natter  
Every Tuesday from 6:00pm to 7:15pm.

Booking is essential.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Wednesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Lego Club (on Fridays)  
Every Friday from 2.30pm – 3.30pm.  Booking is not required.
 
For children aged 5-10, all children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.

Come along to have some lego building fun.

Gardening Club  

Portrush Library invites you to come along to our fortnightly Gardening Club, please call the library for dates, to learn, share and discuss all things gardening.

Lego Club (on Saturdays)  
Every Saturday from 11:00am – 12 noon.
 
Booking is not required. For children aged 5-10, all children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.
Come along to have some Lego building fun. Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Junior Reading Group  

First Tuesday of every month between 3:30pm – 4:15pm.

 

For children aged 7-9 years, come and join our monthly Junior Reading Group. This group is a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.

Adult Reading Group  

First Wednesday of every month from 3:00pm – 4:00pm

 

This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Storytime  

Weekly, every Saturday from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. Suitable for ages 4-8 years.

Storytime sessions help children develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Seed Library Workshop with Conor O'Kane  

The SWELL Festival activities continue as Portrush Library is delighted to welcome Conor O’Kane (Community Garden Support/Seed It Union) to host a fantastic workshop on the wonderful world of seeds. Come along and take part in this lively and engaging workshop with Conor.

Human Library Project Toolkit Workshop  

Our SWELL Festival celebrations continue as, in partnership with Northern Health & Social Care Trust and part of the Causeway Loneliness Network, Portrush Library is delighted to welcome you to our Human Library Project Toolkit Workshop, where attendees will be guided by the Causeway Coast and Glens District Officer and NHSCT Health and Wellbeing Officer to learn how to develop and deliver their own Human Library Projects. 

 

The Human Library is a way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community that they might not normally engage with. Human libraries promote tolerance, celebrate differences and encourage understanding of people who come from varied cultural or lifestyle backgrounds.

Squiggles and Giggles - Music and Movement Workshop  

Portrush Library invites families to join Squiggles & Giggles for a brilliant session of music and movement! Enjoy singing, parachute play, musical instruments, puppets and sensory props in an inclusive, energetic and exciting workshop suitable for babies - preschool age and their adults!

Connect North Information Session  

Portrush Library is delighted to welcome a member of the Connect North Team into the library, as part of Positive Ageing Month, to host an information session and provide further advice on Connect North, which has been developed with service users to offer a social prescribing service for adults living in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area.

Room on the Broom' Storytime and Wand Making Craft  

The skies are dark, the moon is out, the stars are shining - it is a perfect night for children aged 4-9 years to come along to Portrush Library and join their favourite librarians as they read the story of 'Room on the Broom' and then follow up afterwards with a very special wand making craft! 5:00pm - 5:45pm.
