CUSTOMER NOTICE - Bank Holiday Closure

All public libraries in Northern Ireland will be closed on Monday 4 May and Mobile Libraries will not be on the road. The Out of Hours Service will be available in applicable libraries.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Friday from 10:30am to 12 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Monday from 10:30am to 11:00am.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Adult Reading Group  
First Tuesday of every month.
 
This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Lego Club  
Every Wednesday from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.

Suitable for age 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come along to have some Lego building fun. Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Board Game Club  

Come along and play games with friends, for children aged 5 and over accompanied by an adult.

Weekly Storytime  

Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Knit and Natter  
Every Tuesday from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

SureStart Stay and Sing with Me  

SureStart led song and dance session for babies and toddlers, accompanied by a parent/carer.

North West Migrants Forum 'Black Heritage in NI: Hidden History Travelling Exhibition'  

Dungiven Library is delighted to host the 'Black Heritage in NI: Hidden History Travelling Exhibition'. This project, provided by North West Migrants Forum, is designed to explore and celebrate the often-overlooked stories of Black heritage in Northern Ireland. Through carefully researched content and engaging visual displays, the exhibition highlights the vital contributions, lived experiences, and cultural narratives that have helped shape communities across the region.

Hedgehog Awareness Week - 'Make your own Hoglet' Craft Session  

Dungiven Library invites children aged 4-11 years to come along and enjoy our fun learning activity about hedgehogs before getting crafty with glue and scissors and making your own little hoglets to take home, from our selection craft resources available from 11:30am - 12:30pm.

In support of Mental Health Awareness Week, Dungiven Library invites you to come along and enjoy a relaxing 'Watercolours' session, led by our staff and using our watercolour paint resources. Whether you are a beginner or experienced painter, join us for this perfect way to reduce anxiety, foster mindfulness, and provide a calming creative outlet.

Mental Health Awareness Week - 'Time for Tea and Mindfulness Morning' Event  

As part of our Mental Health Awareness Week events, Dungiven Library invites you to come along and enjoy our 'Time for Tea and Mindfulness Morning' where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits, either with a friend, or as a little time for yourself to do a jigsaw puzzle, crossword, mindful colouring or peacefully relax in our cosy seated areas, It's entirely up to you!

Short Story Reading Group  

This reading group focuses on short stories chosen beforehand by staff and read and discussed on the day.

The group encourages people to read for pleasure, share their enthusiasm and express opinions about books, stories, and authors. Tea/Coffee biscuits provided.

World Bee Day - 'Feed the Bees' Plant Pot Craft  

As part of World Bee Day, Dungiven Library invites all the family to come along for our 'Feed the Bees' Plant Pot Craft. Join our friendly staff, as we decorate plant pots using our selection of craft resources and then be sure to plant the seeds we provide you with before taking your pots home to watch them grow into beautiful flowers, which can then be planted outside to feed the bees.

Out of Hours Service

The Out of Hours Service allows adults (aged 18 years and over) controlled access to Dungiven Library for an additional 34 hours per week outside of normal opening hours.
Registered members can access a limited but important range of services on a self-service basis, including broadband/Wi-Fi access, printing facilities, study space and book borrowing. To register, just call in or contact the library during normal opening hours and ask staff for details.
