Big Summer Read wraps up in Dungiven Library with our 'Animal Mask Mania' Craft, as we invite children aged 4-11 years, children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult, to come along and join this fun craft session where we'll be making animal masks. Will you be a tiger, a dog or a bird - it's your chance to go wild with your creativity!

This exhibition was put together by Libraries NI and the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI). It explores the history and impact of the seventeenth century plantation which reshaped Ulster, using documents, maps and historical records. This exhibition will be on display for several weeks during September here in Dungiven library.

This weekend, we celebrate Roald Dahl Day, and to mark the occasion we are having a Story time and Craft session with a Roald Dahl theme. We'll be getting creative and using our imaginations to create a BFG ‘Dream Jar’ wall display in our library and we'll be listening to some of his witty and entertaining writing!

Did you know that before Roald Dahl became a household name as a children's author, he published many short stories for an adult audience? Many of these have twists and turns and a dark humour that we saw versions of in his popular junior fiction writing in later years. 

This is the week where ‘Roald Dahl Day’ makes an appearance in our calendars, and we'd love to invite you along to Dungiven Library where you can take part in a shared reading experience - you are welcome to read parts of the story yourself with staff, or you can just listen if you prefer. We will be reading aloud a mysterious short story from the master of storytelling and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits!

As part of Go Green with Libraries NI, Dungiven Library is delighted to welcome Plant and Play Roadshow to deliver a hands-on afternoon of discovery, creativity, and nature!

Get ready to: 🪴Plant a variety of seeds to take home and grow. 🔬 Explore the hidden world around us using microscopes. 🧪 Create your own gummy worms slime experiment and discover some fun science. 🎨 Make nature-inspired crafts to take home.

Two of the most important things you can do for healthy brain activity is to stay connected with other people and to keep your brain busy with problem solving. 

At Dungiven Library, we invite you to come along and have a cup of tea or coffee on Alzheimer's Awareness Day and engage with other library users, as well as challenge yourself to one of our puzzles or games to get those neurons in your brain fired up!  We will also have a selection of books available at the event to help you and your loved ones understand more about Alzheimers and other forms of dementia.

We are delighted to invite members of our community to join us for a cup of coffee (or tea!) at Dungiven Library for the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. It's a great chance to enjoy a cuppa whilst striking up conversations and connecting with others in your local community. We'd love to see you come along and supporting a cause that touches so many lives.

Help us continue to celebrate ‘Go Green with Libraries NI’ as we kick off our brand new Eco-club.

Use our craft resources to decorate your very own flowerpot before planting special seed paper hearts to grow your own colourful wildflowers. These flowers will give bees and other pollinators much needed food when they go looking for food in the spring and summer next year.

We will also be doing a nature-themed story time at this event.

This exhibition charts the history of the Civil Rights Movement in Northern Ireland using materials and artefacts from the Linen Hall's Northern Ireland Political Collection. It will be on display in Dungiven Library from Monday 12 October until Friday 23 October.

As Part of Book Week NI, Dungiven Library is delighted to welcome local author Madeline Mc Cully who will deliver an Author's Talk and Local Folklore Storytelling Performance. Madeline has written numerous books on local myths, legends, folktales and historical tales. During this event, Madeline will also talk about research involved and the difficulties around getting work published.
