Dear Mr Goldsbrough,

Just a few lines to let you know I am still in the pink23 & as you will notice I have once more changed my address. I wrote to you before leaving Durrington so I do not know whether you received it or not, perhaps your reply may not have been sent on to me yet. I was only kept two days at the base until I was sent up the line, I joined the battery at Neuvilly on the 26th Nov & just came down the line about a fortnight before Christmas, we are in a little village called Argo;uves (a few kilos on this side of Amiens) it is not much of a place but I expect we will remain here for a few months at any rate.

They have been issuing us out with Civil Employment Forms to fill up & state if we had a situation vacant, so I don't know whether the Library Committee are willing to accept me again & I would be much obliged if you would inquire at your earliest opportunity & let me know, I think it has a lot to do with the demobilization scheme & everyone seems to be anxious to get out of it as quick as he can, not excluding myself, we have still plenty of work to do, but we are expecting the horses to go anytime & I think that will mean the first big step to Blighty. It seems rather a dull day for New Year's Day, but we had a most enjoyable time on Christmas Day & I hope you all enjoyed yourselves at home. I have no ink as you will notice, we can get very little of anything here, so I hope you will please excuse this scribble in pencil. I hope you are still enjoying good health, also Miss Miller24 , Mr Rowan25 & Mr Gourley26 , kindly remember me to all the boys & girls. Best wishes to all.

I am Dear Sir,
Yours very Truly
R. Alexander
