Dear Mr Goldsbrough,

I received your welcome letter yesterday. Although I was expecting a letter from you, I knew you would be very busy in July & waited till you would get over the rush, before I wrote again. As it is you have written before I thought of starting. And now I give you a little news.

In August I transferred to the Royal I. Fusiliers and was sent to Le [censored] for training. I was three weeks at [censored] & was then sent to this camp to complete training.

I like the infantry very well so far. Parades are finished at 4 o'c. Quite a change from the I.H. where stables were not over till nearly six & even then there was saddlery etc. to clean.

My add. at present is 9/41451 Pte W Brown 9th Royal Irish Fusilier 36th Div. Depot Batt. B.E.F.

The reason I did not write to you when you had enquired for my add. was I was moving at the time & had changed my add. very often. Even this add. is only temporary as I may join the Batt. soon.

I am sorry to hear Butler is in trouble. But it is very easy to err in his new life.

McCausland I know is on his way to the East & I am expecting a letter from him any time.

Please remember me to the staff. Thanking you for your good wishes & hoping to hear from you soon.

I am Dear Mr Golds.
Yours Respectfully,
41451 W. Brown
