Dear Mr. Brown,
I am desired on behalf of the Library & Technical Instruction Committee to express their most sincere sympathy with you in the loss of your son William Brown, who died for his country on 12th August, 1918. During the years he worked in the Library he was always a good, honest, and intelligent boy, and a great favourite with the other members of the Staff who all join with me in expression of their sorrow at your great bereavement.
I remain,
Yours very sincerely,
