The Officer Commanding
No. 1 Agricultural Co.,
Depot West York.
Dear Sir,
I have been requested by the Town Solicitor of Belfast to write to you for some information re Private M. Butler, No. 48116, who was transferred to the Army Reserve on 27th April last, and has since been employed in the Leeds Tramways.
Butler informed the Town Solicitor by letter dated 27th ult. 199 that he had left the service of the Leeds Tramways and was rejoining the Army.
We wish to know:-
(1st) If he has rejoined the Army, and if so, on what date?
(2nd) If he was drawing any Army pay while in the employment of the Leeds Tramways, and was still regarded as belonging to the Army.
I may say that the Belfast Corporation were paying him full salary while in the Army, and it is under consideration whether they will take proceedings against him for the amount received from them while engaged in civil employment in Leeds.
I remain,
Yours truly,
JBG
