Letter
Dear Sir,
I am sure you will wonder what on earth has happened to me these past few weeks. Well I have been rather unfortunate. I was sent to the base about five weeks ago with a blood-poisoned arm & just as it was better I contracted enteric fever. I was for a time very seriously ill, my people being informed, but happily I have got over it & am at present convalescent. My address is W2 Lines, No. 2 Convalescent Depot, Rouen. I am still very weak but it is only a matter of time until I am my old self again. I received a letter from you just after I was admitted to hospital and I thank you very much for it. I am very anxious to get back to the Division as hospital life worries one. I sincerely hope Sir you are keeping well.
Your obedient servant
J.F. Eagleson
J.B. Goldsbrough Esq.
