Dear Sir,

No doubt you will be surprised to see that I have got to this country. I arrived here a few weeks ago and am very well pleased with it so far. I am attached to a hospital on account of my former illness & my address is "A" Section, No. 29 Stationary Hospital, Italian Exp. Force. The hospital is in a big town, which so far has been free from air raids. I am working in the hospital office along with a chap named [Clench] who was a librarian at Ealing Public Library, but he doesn't know any of the Belfast staff. The heat here is terrific, and simply leaves me prostrate at times. Since the offensive started on this front we have been kept rather busy, but the worst of it is over now & at present things are slack.

I sincerely hope Sir, you are enjoying the best of health, as for myself I never felt better in my life, although I do feel a bit fed up at times. I have nothing very interesting to tell you, so pardon such a short letter.

Your obedient servant,

J.F. Eagleson
