Mr G.H. Elliott.

Sir,

In answer to your letter received last evening concerning my Army Pay, separation allowances etc. My Army Pay received at my commencement of service with H.M Forces was 1/- per day.

My recent Army pay is 1/2 per day, less 6d per day allotment. The separation allowance received by my dependents from the Government is 8/- per week. I contribute 3/-6 the Government 4/-6 total 8/- per week.
I am quite well and in the best of spirits, my Batt. is at present having a well earned rest, it will be some time before I am in the trenches again. Probably 6 weeks or more.
The weather out here is very good indeed the wet season is over we are having a sample of French heat.

I am Sir,
Yours very truly,
8/13227 Corpl. J McCausland
8th R.I.R.
