Trooper Ship
20.9.1917

Dear Mr G.,

A short note letting you know how I am faring. Well I landed in Salonica a few days ago thinking I arrived at my destination, I was a few days at the base. I have been sent off to another part of the globe, I don't know my destination yet.

The town of Salonica is rather interesting; very ancient, and of course very dirty, it has improved since the British have taken control of affairs. The country around is very barren, no trees or vegetation. I'm glad I am out of it. I was fed up with the place. The heat here is awful I'm gradually getting used to it, in time I suppose I will like the climate. I have been attached to the R.I Regt. I will write you when I get settled.

I am Dear Mr G.,
Yours respectfully:
2nd Lieut. J McCausland
R.I. Rifle
Attached 5th R.I.Regiment 10th Division (This add. will find me)
Salonica Force
