Dear Mr Elliott,

Just a few lines to wish you the compliments of the season. I am very sorry that I cannot give my wishes to you in person, but this is impossible, as the fates have decreed otherwise. In other words, the Colonel has brought four or five of us juniors from the officer's coy, to the battn. in place of other officers who are away on leave. Of course this is only for the time being and we expect to get away at the New Year.

There is nothing fresh here and it will, I think, be a few months, before we see the front.

I must close so with best wishes and hoping that you are in the best of health,
I remain,
Yours Sincerely,
M. Warren
