A Fresh Chapter for Ballycastle Library as Refurbished Building Reopens
Published 29 Jan 2026
Ballycastle Library is delighted to welcome the community back through its doors at 10:00am on Monday 2 February, following an extensive refurbishment that has transformed the building into a brighter, more welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
The library has been carefully updated to improve comfort, accessibility and the overall experience for visitors of all ages. Works have included complete internal and external redecoration, new flooring throughout, a replacement suspended ceiling and the installation of new bespoke shelving, creating a fresh, modern environment while retaining the familiar feel of this much-loved community space.
Improvements have also been made outside the building, including a freshly painted frontage, new signage, and updated boundary fencing and landscaping to the front of the library. These enhancements help strengthen the library’s presence within the town and create a more inviting entrance for visitors.
As the library reopens, local people are encouraged to call in, have a look around and rediscover everything their library has to offer. From books and digital resources to events, activities and welcoming spaces to read, study or relax, Ballycastle Library continues to play an important role at the heart of the local community.
“We’re really excited to be welcoming people back into Ballycastle Library and to share this refreshed space with the community,” said Grainne Milner-McLoone Ballycastle Branch Library Manager. “Over the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting a programme of events to celebrate the reopening, with activities and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved.
“Whether you’re a regular visitor or have never joined before, we’d love to see people call in, have a look around and reconnect with everything their local library has to offer.”
