Libraries NI is pleased to say the brand-new Fivemiletown Library has now opened to the public (from Thursday 12 December). This modern facility has been designed to support the community providing spaces for reading, studying, hosting events and it will be of great benefit to anyone looking for a productive environment to work or study in, or a place to connect with other local people, or a place to simply find your next good read.

Inside, visitors will find a spacious ground floor featuring dedicated areas for adults and children, a computer study zone ideal for work or digital learning, and comfortable new furniture throughout. The library is equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere and a Changing Places facility has been installed.

The first floor houses the Mount Stewart Suite, a flexible meeting space designed to accommodate a range of community events and gatherings. Equipped with adjustable lighting and a modern interactive digital screen, the suite provides a practical and professional setting, making it ideal for meetings, presentations and more.

The library’s design reflects Libraries NI’s commitment to sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient heating and ventilation systems, double-glazed windows and solar panels. These features will ensure the building is comfortable all year-round while minimising its environmental footprint.

Visitors arriving by car or bike will appreciate the thoughtful layout, with entrances from both the Main Street and the rear carpark which features an EV charging station and a bicycle shed. The garden between the library and the carpark provides a peaceful outdoor space complete with benches, offering a unique place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
