12 June 2025 is Empathy Day

Libraries in Fermanagh and Omagh are set to host two inspiring events this June, showcasing local talent and encouraging creative expression through art and writing.

Enniskillen Library is delighted to present the Enniskillen Model Pushkin Project Exhibition, running from 16 to 30 June during normal opening hours. The exhibition features work by Primary 6 pupils from Enniskillen Model Primary School, who have spent the year participating in the Pushkin Project – a literacy initiative inspired by Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

Under the theme ‘The Spiking Heat of Inspiration’, pupils explored a variety of creative activities including poetry writing and performance, interpretative dance, environmental studies and visual art. The exhibition will showcase their writing, artwork and photographs, celebrating their imagination and the power of using the world around them to fuel creativity.

Meanwhile, Lisnaskea Library will host ‘On Empathy: Creative Writing Workshop’ on Tuesday 3 June from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, as part of Empathy Day 2025. This interactive session is open to adults of all writing abilities, from experienced writers to first-timers. The workshop will explore how empathy can shape stories, helping us see the world through other people's eyes. Participants will enjoy a relaxed and welcoming space to write, reflect and connect.

Both events are free to attend. Booking is essential for the Lisnaskea workshop but no booking is required for the Enniskillen exhibition. For more information, contact: Enniskillen Library – t: 028 6632 2886 or e: enniskillen.library@librariesni.org.uk
