Libraries NI launches free online Pilates programme
Published 22 Jun 2026
Libraries NI is inviting people across Northern Ireland to take part in a new programme of free online Pilates classes designed to support strength, mobility and overall wellbeing from the comfort of home.
Beginning on 24 June, the weekly sessions will be delivered online via Zoom by experienced instructor Neil Healey and are suitable for people of all abilities, from complete beginners to those with previous Pilates experience.
As part of Libraries NI’s wider programme of free online wellbeing activities, the classes will provide practical ways for participants to improve posture, build core strength, increase flexibility and support long-term physical health.
Throughout the programme, Neil will offer different levels of exercises, allowing participants to work at a pace and intensity that suits their individual needs and abilities. Sessions will focus on mobilising the spine and joints, improving stability and balance, strengthening muscles and supporting bone health, while also exploring the positive relationship between physical activity, confidence and mental wellbeing.
Deirdre Nugent, Libraries NI Services Manager, said:
"Following the success of previous online wellbeing programmes, we are delighted to offer these free Pilates sessions as part of our wider commitment to supporting health and wellbeing within communities across Northern Ireland.
"The convenience of taking part from home removes many of the barriers that can prevent people from accessing activities and support. Whether someone is looking to improve their strength and mobility, manage an existing condition or simply introduce more movement into their weekly routine, these sessions provide an accessible and welcoming way to get started."
Participants only need to register once to gain access to the full programme and can attend as many sessions as they wish throughout the series.
