Libraries in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon area are offering a trio of fascinating evening events this June, each promising something unique for adult audiences interested in storytelling, local heritage, and intrigue.

On Tuesday 3 June from 6:30pm – 7:30pm, Tandragee Library will host a special screening in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen. Using rarely seen footage from the Digital Film Archive, this event will bring to life stories of fairy thorns, rag trees, Mummers and Straw Boys. Visitors are invited to explore traditional tales of folk cures and curses and share their own family stories and superstitions. This event is part of Empathy Day 2025 and booking is essential.

Later in the month, on Tuesday 24 June from 6:00pm – 7:45pm, two more events will take place. At Dromore Library, local historian Trevor Martin will deliver a talk on Prominent Irish Women in History, highlighting the lives and legacies of some of Ireland’s most influential female figures. Booking is advisable for this engaging and informative session.

Also on Tuesday 24 June from 6:30pm – 8:00pm, Banbridge Library invites you to step into a world of suspense with Murder Within Tent, a camping-themed murder mystery where attendees can test their detective skills. Set against the backdrop of Midsummer’s Night, this interactive event promises plenty of twists and surprises. Booking is essential.

All events are free to attend, open to adults, and offer a great opportunity to engage with local culture, history and storytelling in a relaxed library setting.
