Libraries across Newry, Mourne and Down are hosting a wide range of free events this April, offering something for everyone to enjoy. From Irish language activities and author readings to community craft and careers advice, there's plenty happening in your local library. Here are some of the highlights:

Castlewellan Library
Castlewellan Library is offering a fantastic mix of events for all ages, including support for job seekers and celebrations of Irish language and culture.

Pop Up Seed Swap
Friday 18 April 10.30am – 12 noon

Calling all green-fingered gardeners! Bring along your spare seeds and swap them for something new at our Pop Up Seed Swap.

Job Seekers Drop-In
Friday 25 April  10:30am – 12:30pm

Anyone looking for work or considering a job change is invited to drop in for practical advice and support.

Irish Language Rhythm and Rhyme
Saturday 26 April 11:30am – 12 noon

Enjoy Irish language songs and rhymes with little ones in this fun and relaxed session. Suitable for children aged 0 – 5 years

Irish Language Storytime and Themed LEGO
Saturday 26 April 12 noon – 12:30pm

Stay on after Rhythm and Rhyme for a special Irish language story followed by themed LEGO play. Suitable for children aged 4 – 8 years.

Adult Yarnspinners
Wednesday 30 April 6.30pm - 7.45pm

Traditional storytelling for adults. Come along and listen to local storytellers or if you would like to contribute with your own story, please let staff know in advance.

Newry City Library
Newry Library is welcoming special guests from near and far for two engaging events this April:

Author Event – Born to Prance by Anthea McWilliams

Join us for a performance reading by local author Anthea McWilliams from her book Born to Prance: One Woman's Singular Story of Dancing up Ireland.

Knit and Natter with Kildare Library
Monday 7 April 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Newry’s Knit and Natter group will host a special collaborative session with their counterparts from Kildare Library for a relaxing afternoon of chat, creativity and community spirit. Everyone welcome

The Life of Sir Hans Sloane – Talk by Clive Scoular
