Christmas Casting in Whiterock Library

Whiterock Library invites children aged four to eight years to come along and create a special and unique Christmas tree decoration to share with your loved ones! On Monday 18 December, artist Kate O'Neill will guide you through the process of making a plaster cast of your very own hand thanks to the generous support of Belfast City Council.

PRONI Libraries Tour visits Enniskillen Library

A letter wishing “God speed” to two young Fermanagh women who emigrated to Michigan in the 1880s will take centre stage as the second leg of a regional tour of libraries by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) rolls into Enniskillen later this week. Coming on the back of last month’s successful visit to Derry Central Library, where a letter by renowned poet Seamus Heaney and passenger logs from emigration ships from the 1800s were put on display, PRONI will visit Enniskillen Library on Thursday, 14th December.

Whiterock Library Launches a New Look Children’s Library

Whiterock Library today welcomed the Children’s Commissioner for Northern Ireland, school children from the area and members of local organisations to officially open the newly renovated children’s library. Guests were invited to take a tour of the stunning new look library that has been meticulously designed with the intention of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for Libraries NI’s junior members.

Libraries NI Christmas Holiday Closure

All libraries will be closed on Saturday 23 December 2023 through to Monday 1 January 2024 inclusive. From Friday 22 December 2023 to Monday 1 January 2024 inclusive, the Mobile Library Service and Home Call Service will be off the road for the holiday period. The Out of Hours service will also be closed during this time.

Festive Fun at Belfast Central Library

It’s going to be a holly, jolly Christmas at Belfast Central Library and you’re invited to join in the fun! The cast of the Lyric Theatre's Christmas show, 'Hansel and Gretel', will kick off the celebrations on Friday 1 December at 3:00pm with a special Christmas lights switch on event. This is a great opportunity to see the library’s dazzling Christmas tree lights and enjoy some refreshments while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
