Ice Cold Heart

Ice Cold Heart by P J Tracy

If you love a good character led thriller, look no further. If you've read any of the previous Monkeewrench series of books, you know what you're in for. Instead of the typical police procedural, these books focus on two complementary teams.

The first the more traditional duo of homicide detectives Leo Magozzi and Gino Rolseth; the second a team of tech experts (Monkeewrench) who specialise in digital investigations, but veer off in whatever direction is needed to solve the case. This time Magozzi and Rolseth are brought into the case of a missing wife, who turns up dead in ambiguous circumstances - was she partaking in a BDSM affair that went wrong or the targeted victim of a vicious serial killer?

Concurrently, the Monkeewrench team are working on a cryptocurrency scam that is getting the better of them. Can they help each other while neck deep in their own case? Could the cases be connected? Despite this being the tenth novel in the series, and the first written solely by the daughter of the mother-daughter team that made up P J Tracy, the plotting, tension, and character development is still first-class.

It's obviously going to be a different read if you haven't read the earlier novels, but either way it's a pacey, entertaining page-turner, that will take care of any gaps in your social calendar. A solid thriller that builds on an excellent series that never disappoints.
