The Braid by Laetitia Colombani
A beautifully woven together account of the journeys of three very different women from three different parts of the world: Smita, an ‘untouchable’ from India; Giulia, a young woman figuring out life in Sicily; and Sarah, a highly reputable, hardworking Canadian lawyer and single mum of three. I found myself admiring their determination and courage. The story takes us on a journey with each character to discover the mystery of what connects the three women to each other.
I couldn’t put this one down. You will fall in love with this story, and the bravery of these three characters. There were twists and turns that kept me guessing. Each character’s story is told in alternating chapters, they never meet, never interact, but are still tangibly linked by something heart wrenching, uplifting and unforgettable.
