Lego Club  
Every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
For children aged 6-10. Those children aged 8 and under to be accompanied by a carer.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Wednesday and Friday from 10:30am to 12 noon.

Numbers are limited, please contact branch for more details.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Knit and Natter  
Every Wednesday and Friday from 10:30am to 12 noon.

Booking is essential as numbers are limited. Please contact staff for more details.

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Wednesday.
Children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult. Booking essential.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Quiet Time  

Quiet Time every Tuesday from 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Lights will be dimmed and we will do our best to keep noise to a minimum to provide a peaceful atmosphere.

Materials such as mindful colouring will be available on demand from staff.  

Suitable for all.

Walk Through Time: Memory Lane Exhibit for Alzheimer’s Awareness Day  

Mark Alzheimer’s Awareness Day with a special “Memory Lane” exhibit, showcasing photos and pictures from Old Whitehead. This nostalgic display invites visitors of all ages to explore the town’s past and reflect on the importance of memories in our lives.

Macmillan Coffee Morning  

Come along and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, a slice of cake, and good company — all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. Every sip and slice helps raise vital funds for people living with cancer. Your support makes a real difference.

A special two-part poetry event. Share poems written about the area, capturing the stories, places, and spirit of the town. Booking is not required and everyone is welcome.

Spread Some Love! – Love Your Library Day  

During normal opening hours. 
Celebrate Love Your Library Day by sharing what makes the library special to you. Visitors of all ages are invited to share a message of love for their library. Booking is not required.

Escape the Library!

Enjoy a book-themed Escape Room challenge, with puzzles inspired by stories and characters, this interactive experience is open to all ages. Booking is not required.

'Zine Making Workshop  

Design a 'Zine in this fun, hands-on workshop for 11–15 year olds. Using collage, drawing, and writing, learn how to put together a mini magazine that expresses your ideas and style.

The Out of Hours Service allows adults (aged 18 years and over) controlled access to Whitehead Library for an additional 34 hours per week outside of normal opening hours.
Registered members can access a limited but important range of services on a self-service basis, including broadband/Wi-Fi access, printing facilities, study space and book borrowing. To register, just call in or contact the library during normal opening hours and ask staff for details.
