Libraries NI Launches Free Online Wellbeing Programme to Support Healthier Communities
Published 12 Jun 2026

Adults taking place in a Wellness eventLibraries NI is launching a free programme of online mindfulness, yoga and Pilates sessions designed to help bring accessible health and wellbeing support directly into local communities across Northern Ireland.

Running from middle of June through to March next year, the programme will offer people the opportunity to take part in regular guided sessions from home, making it easier for individuals to build movement, relaxation and healthier routines into everyday life.

The initiative has been developed in recognition of the growing pressures many people are facing physically and mentally, including stress, reduced mobility and long-term health issues that can affect confidence, independence and quality of life.

For some people, ongoing back problems, pain or physical conditions can have a major impact on daily life and even their ability to remain in work. Others may simply find it difficult to access activities locally due to time, transport, cost or caring responsibilities. By delivering sessions online and free of charge, Libraries NI is helping remove some of those barriers.

The programme reflects the changing role of libraries within communities, with libraries increasingly providing opportunities that support not only learning and literacy, but wider health, connection and wellbeing.
The sessions are open to everyone and are designed to be welcoming and accessible, whether participants are completely new to mindfulness, yoga and Pilates or looking to return to activities they may not have engaged with for some time.

Deirdre Nugent, Libraries NI Services Manager said;
“Following the success of previous online wellbeing programmes, we are pleased to offer these free sessions again. They were extremely well attended and generated very positive feedback, with many participants valuing the convenience of being able to join from home. By delivering the sessions online and free of charge, we can help more people across Northern Ireland access wellbeing support in a way that fits around their daily lives.”

Participants can join from anywhere in Northern Ireland using a smartphone, tablet or computer, making it possible for people to access support and activities in a way that fits around work, family life and existing commitments.

Full details of upcoming sessions will be released soon so keep an eye on our website and social media for updates.
