Go Green Events

This September, Libraries NI is inviting people of all ages to take part in Go Green (more info) with Libraries NI through a programme of free events in libraries across Northern Ireland.

The programme includes practical workshops, expert talks, family activities, nature events and creative sessions, all designed to inspire simple, sustainable actions that can make a positive difference. From reducing waste and repairing household items to growing your own food, supporting biodiversity and discovering new ways to live more sustainably, there are plenty of opportunities to learn, share ideas and get involved.

Together, small actions can create a shared impact. Check out the events below and join us this September as we take simple steps towards a greener future.

Go Green with Libraries NI	Go Green September Eco Rangers Litter Pick September is Go Green month. Join Larne Library staff every Monday at 11:30am to help keep our local environment litter free by taking part in a community litter pick around the library. All equipment will be provided, and everyone is welcome to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea afterwards in Larne Library. Go Green with Libraries NI	Tullycarnet Green Guardians Eco Club Launch Party Thursday 17 September 3:30pm – 4:30pm Join us for our first mission and give your kids the superpowers to protect our planet! The Tullycarnet Green Guardians is a new fun, hands-on monthly library group where 5 to 11-year-olds discover nature, learn about saving the environment, and become local eco-heroes through exciting outdoor adventures, wildlife crafts, and environmental projects. Sow, Swap and Sip: Seed Swap and Gardening Café	Celebrate Go Green Month by connecting with fellow gardening enthusiasts at our Seed Swap and Gardening Café. Bring along spare seeds, seedlings or cuttings to exchange, discover something new to grow, and share gardening tips over a cup of tea or coffee. Adults. Sustainability Selfie Board - Snap, Smile & Save the Planet!	Come and join the fun at our Sustainability Selfie Board! Make a promise to help our planet by choosing just one small action. Go Green Quiz	Do you love quizzes? Do you care about the environment? Then join us for our exciting Go Green Quiz at the library! Test your knowledge about recycling, wildlife, climate change and simple ways to protect our planet. Bring your friends for an interactive event with exciting quiz questions and great craic! Go Green with Libraries NI - Save the Bees!	Help us continue to celebrate ‘Go Green with Libraries NI’ as we kick off our brand new Eco-club. Use our craft resources to decorate your very own flowerpot before planting special seed paper hearts to grow your own colourful wildflowers. These flowers will give bees and other pollinators much needed food when they go looking for food in the spring and summer next year. We will also be doing a nature-themed story time at this event. Save the Bee’s Craft for Go Green Month	Save the Bees celebrates Go Green Month with a fun, hands-on activity for children. Each child will receive their own plant pot to decorate and plant bee-friendly seeds to take home, helping support pollinators while learning about the importance of protecting our environment. Go Green: Amazon Jungle Show	Bringing the Jungle to Belfast Central Library! Join us to learn about some Amazon reptiles and creatures, their environment and how to safely and responsibly care for them. You'll even get to meet some of these beautiful creatures.
