Libraries NI Latest Service Updates
📢 New Computers Coming to Libraries – Phased Rollout Underway 📢
We’re installing brand new computers in all Libraries NI branches as part of the final stage of our e3 project. This upgrade includes new slimline PCs, modern monitors, updated keyboards and mice. The new design features a compact unit with the PC base unit attached to the back of the screen – giving a tidy, space-saving setup. USB ports and other access points remain available for external devices.
The new hardware will utilise Windows 11, which has a refreshed look and feel. Customers may notice some simple changes to layout and navigation, such as a centred Start button, Microsoft Office 2024 and new ways to manage open windows.
The rollout has already begun, with 20 libraries – including Carrickfergus, Banbridge, Greenisland, Whitehead, Larne and Cookstown – successfully upgraded during the pilot phase. Installation across all remaining branches is now underway and will continue on a phased basis over the coming months, with all libraries set to receive the new equipment.
There may be some disruption while the upgrades are carried out, and we thank you for bearing with us during this transition. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to speak to library staff if you need any help using the new system.

New library members who join online should use their membership number “UNREGXXXXXXX” to access the Libby and BorrowBox apps. However, if you have called into a library and received a library card then please use the membership number on the card to log in, “1000XXXXXX”.
