Libraries across Lisburn and Castlereagh are offering a varied and engaging programme of events this May, bringing together creativity, wellbeing and opportunities to connect.
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Lisburn City Library will host a wellbeing art workshop on Monday 11 May at 2:00pm. Led by Maurice Shannon, the session will focus on drawing and painting plants, offering a relaxed space for people to unwind, explore their creativity and enjoy some one-to-one guidance, with all materials provided.
In Dundonald Library, visitors can enjoy a poetry reading with local writer Roy Kirkwood on Wednesday 13 May at 11:30am. Roy, who has raised over £10,000 for charity through his writing, will share a selection of his work, with a display available in the library throughout the month.
Later in the month, on 23 May, the library will host a guitar workshop for adults with an interest in guitars and how they are made. Luthiers Jake Menear and Gerry O’Gorman will share stories from their work building and repairing instruments, and the people they have met along the way. The session is presented by the Classical Guitar Society of Northern Ireland.
