Csilla ToldyKilkeel Library is proud to host a special free event featuring author Csilla Toldy and her illustrated children's book, ‘Enemy Alien: Walter's Journey Through Adversity.’

Join us on Thursday 14 March at 3:30pm in Kilkeel Library as Toldy introduces young audiences to the remarkable life of Walter Sekules through her captivating storytelling and beautiful illustrations by Agnes Tamcsu. This event is recommended for children aged eight years and over.

‘Enemy Alien’ chronicles the inspiring journey of Walter Sekules, who, as a 10-year-old boy, along with his family, escaped the horrors of the Holocaust and Soviet detention camps. When the war ended, Walter and his family set off on a 3,000-mile journey through war-torn Europe in search of the rest of their family and a new home which brought them to settle in Kilkeel in 1950.

Through her engaging narrative, Toldy invites readers to embark on a heartfelt journey alongside Walter as he navigates the challenges of being a young Jewish boy growing up in a camp for enemy aliens in Kazakhstan. From moments of uncertainty to acts of kindness and friendship, Walter's story is one of triumph over adversity and enduring strength.
