A photo of Louis MacnieceLibraries NI is inviting audiences to a special evening with acclaimed writer Glenn Patterson in Lisburn City Library on Thursday 21 May at 6:30pm.

The event will feature a screening and discussion exploring the life and work of renowned poet Louis MacNeice, one of the most influential literary voices to emerge from Northern Ireland.

Glenn Patterson will speak about the making of his documentary profile of Louis MacNeice, created with Clare Delargy, and reflect on his long-standing interest in MacNeice’s writing and legacy. He will also discuss his new film script inspired by Autumn Journal and plans for its future development.

Glenn Patterson’s documentary explores MacNeice’s childhood, career and the lasting impact of his work, drawing on archive material, recordings and interviews to bring audiences closer to the writer and the influences that shaped some of his most memorable poetry.

Visitors can also explore the BBC Louis MacNeice exhibition currently on display in Lisburn City Library, which is available to view during normal library opening hours.
