A picture of a crime sceneCrime fiction fans, aspiring writers and curious readers are invited to celebrate Crime Readers' Month this June with a packed programme of events taking place in libraries across Northern Ireland.

From bestselling authors and local crime writers to interactive workshops and reader discussions, the month-long programme will shine a spotlight on one of the country's most popular literary genres while encouraging people to discover new books, share ideas and explore the art of storytelling.

One of the highlights of the programme is Pitch a Crime, a unique opportunity for aspiring writers to share their crime fiction ideas with published authors and receive advice on developing their stories. Taking place in Ballyclare Library on Tuesday 9 June and Antrim Library on Tuesday 23 June, the sessions are designed to encourage new voices and help participants take the next step in their writing journey.

Readers will also have the chance to hear directly from some of Northern Ireland's leading crime authors. James Murphy will appear at a number of libraries throughout the month, discussing his writing process, the inspiration behind his novels and the enduring appeal of crime fiction. Events include author talks in Antrim, Falls Road, Moira and Lisburn Road libraries, as well as a special Coffee and Crime event in Glengormley Library.

Elsewhere, author Bernie McQuillan will visit Cregagh and Ormeau Road libraries to discuss her work and writing career, while Carrickfergus Library will welcome local crime writer Linda Hagan for Murder in Your Own Backyard – Hometown Noir, exploring how familiar places and local communities can provide inspiration for compelling crime fiction.

Crime Readers' Month offers something for everyone, whether you are a dedicated crime fiction fan, an aspiring author with a story to tell or simply looking for your next great read.
