Louis MacNeice Exhibition  

Produced in partnership with the BBC, this exhibition explores the life and works of Louis MacNeice – an accomplished broadcaster and one of the foremost poets of his generation.

Exhibition: “Lines I Meant to Say” by Philippa Bandurek Bradbury  

In this imaginative and quietly powerful exhibition, artist-researcher Philippa Bandurek Bradbury uses pen, ink and hand-drawn lettering to explore the fragile, messy business of communication. The new works, created especially for Antrim Library, are layered onto both reclaimed and new paper, where every mark, pause and smudge tells part of the story.

Travel' an exhibition by Konrad Pawlaszek  

The display captures the fears, hopes, struggles and ultimately peace with the artists journey following a serious cancer diagnosis.

Stories from Newtownards Workhouse Exhibition  

Explore the story of Newtownards Workhouse and Bully’s Acre at a special exhibition from Ards Historical Society, coming to the library this February.

Exhibitions - The Splendid Press  

Come and see The Marcus Ward Collection usually held in Belfast Central library. The exhibition boasts a large collection of their many beautiful products, including illustrated books, cards and calendars, with the jewel in the crown being their unique and lavish illuminated manuscripts.

Exhibitions - The Reformation  

A joint project by Libraries NI and PRONI. It was done to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. However, the content is more than that and it focuses on documents and materials held by PRONI and items from the Fine Book Room in Belfast Central Library.

Exhibition - Somewhere Between Two Extremes  

Come and see an exhibition 'Somewhere Between Two Extremes' by local artist Senga Sharkey. The exhibition is a series of paintings inspired by photographs of her mother and grandfather Harry Maguire (who was the last blacksmith in Lisnaskea). Available to view during library opening hours. 

The artist will be doing a 'meet and greet' to speak about her work on Tuesday 17th February at 5pm.

St Brigid’s Cloak on Display  

The Dolmen Craft group have created St Brigid’s cloak out of material from the sea highlighting sea awareness month and St Brigid as the protector of nature and the sea. You can add your own wee blessing or prayer into one of the available pockets.

Mapping Monument Display  

Come along to the library and view the Mapping Monument Display which explores the Landscapes Legacies of the Ordinance Survey in and around Lough Foyle and Binevenagh.

“At the Crossroads:” The Campaign for Civil Rights in Northern Ireland  

The importance of the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland cannot be overstated. The impact it had on future events makes it one of the most significant aspects of our recent history.

 

The collections from The Linen Hall Library have a critical role to play in understanding Northern Ireland’s past, and crucial to this is the material held on civil rights.

 

Driven by community engagement with Linen Hall’s unique archives, At the Crossroads: The Campaign for Civil Rights in Northern Ireland charts this movement for social change and trailblazing grassroots activism and asks us to reflect on a truly pivotal moment in our history.
