Experience the I Just Called Exhibition by Colin James Woods in Belfast Libraries
Published 30 Sept 2024
Belfast Central Library is delighted to host the unique touring exhibition "I Just Called" by artist Colin James Woods. The exhibition will commence its journey through Belfast libraries from October 2024 to June 2025, starting with an artist event in Belfast Central Library on Thursday 3 October from 6:00pm - 7.30pm.
"I Just Called" is a curated series of voice recordings featuring individuals leaving unscripted messages for their loved ones. With voices originating from Northern Ireland and New Zealand, spanning approximately 20 different languages, these anonymous recordings touch upon themes of love, shared humanity, and heartfelt communication. Each message invites the listener to hear individuals sharing heartfelt and private sentiments with their loved ones.
The exhibition, featuring a telephone seat and framed poster in each library, allows visitors to scan the QR code on the poster, sit on the telephone seat, and immerse themselves in the messages using their own smartphones.
Colin James Woods will be present in each library to provide an artist's talk, offering insight into the creation of I Just Called and extending an invitation for attendees to participate in the project.
Everyone is welcome to join us in Belfast Central Library on Thursday 3 October at 6:00pm.
