DIGITAL LIBRARY SERVICE CHANGES
Libraries NI’s digital library service will no longer be available through the Borrow Box app after 31 January 2026 at 11:59pm.
From 1 February 2026, Libraries NI’s digital library will be available through the Libby app only, bringing eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers and eMagazines together in one place.
What this means for you:
• If you use Libby, nothing changes — you can continue reading and listening as normal
• If you use BorrowBox, current loans or reservations may end when the app closes
If you have items borrowed through BorrowBox, you may wish to finish them before 31 January.

Belfast Central Library Service Update
Belfast Central Library will partially reopen to the public on Wednesday 4 February at 9.30am, following temporary closure due to storm damage.
The library will be operating a reduced service from the ground floor only while repair work continues in other areas of the building. Please contact Belfast Central Library on 028 9050 9150 for information before you travel.
We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding. Further updates will be shared as services return to normal.
Ballycastle Library is Reopening on Monday 2 February
Ballycastle Library is delighted to welcome the community back through its doors at 10:00am on Monday 2 February, following an extensive refurbishment that has transformed the building into a brighter, more welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. Click here to read the full details
- Bangor Carnegie Library will be closed from 1:00pm - 2:00pm on Thursday 5. Alternative libraries include Newtownards and Holywood.
- Newtownstewart Library car park entrance is currently out of service due to essential maintenance, access is only available via the entrance on Main Street.
- Falls Road Library will be closed from Wednesday 11 February until Friday 13 February inclusive to allow for essential upgrades. Alternative libraries include Shankill Road and Belfast Central.

- Fermanagh Mobile Library will be unavailable on Tuesday 17 February and Wednesday 18 February inclusive.
- Causeway Mobile Library will be unavailable from Tuesday 10 February until Monday 16 February inclusive.
- Dungannon Mobile Library is temporarily unavailable.
