Libraries NI Christmas Holiday Closure
Libraries NI Christmas Holiday period will run from Monday 22 December to Saturday 27 December 2025 inclusive.
Libraries NI will reopen to customers on Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December with all libraries closing at 5:00pm on each of these days. Library opening hours vary, so please check our website for full details for your local library.
All libraries will be closed on Thursday 1 January 2026 and normal opening hours will resume on Friday 2 January 2026.
The Mobile and Homecall Services will be off the road from Monday 22 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026 inclusive.
Out of Hours Service will close from Saturday 20 December 2025 to Saturday 3 January 2026 inclusive.
To stock up on Christmas holiday reading, from Monday 24 November, customers can borrow up to 18 books with this increased borrowing remaining in place until Thursday 1 January. Standard loan limits resume on Friday 2 January.
Return dates for books borrowed from Monday 24 November will be extended to account for library holiday closures.
Throughout the holiday period, customers can continue to enjoy immediate and free access to thousands of eBook and eAudiobook, eNewspaper and eMagazine titles through our online library. Up to 36 eBooks can be borrowed at a time (18 from Libby and 18 from BorrowBox).

- We apologise that the disabled access to Waterside Library is temporarily unavailable, and we hope to get this issue addressed soon.
Temporary Closure of Ballycastle Library for Refurbishment Work
Due to refurbishment work, Ballycastle library is currently closed and will reopen in the Winter.
During this temporary closure, customers can visit any public library.

The planned refurbishment includes refreshed interiors, including updated décor, new flooring, improved ceilings and enhancements to staff facilities. These improvements are designed to create an even more welcoming and comfortable space for everyone to enjoy.
During the library closure, items can be renewed online with your library membership card and PIN number which is available from library staff. eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines can also be borrowed through our online library.

- Causeway Mobile Library will be unavailable from Tuesday 9 December until Friday 12 December inclusive.
- Craigavon and Armagh Mobile will operate a limited service from Tuesday 18 November.
- Ballymena Mobile Library Timetable is now available.
- Dungannon Mobile Library is currently unavailable.
