Human Library Project Toolkit Workshop  

Our SWELL Festival celebrations continue as, in partnership with Northern Health & Social Care Trust and part of the Causeway Loneliness Network, Portrush Library is delighted to welcome you to our Human Library Project Toolkit Workshop, where attendees will be guided by the Causeway Coast and Glens District Officer and NHSCT Health and Wellbeing Officer to learn how to develop and deliver their own Human Library Projects. 

 

The Human Library is a way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community that they might not normally engage with. Human libraries promote tolerance, celebrate differences and encourage understanding of people who come from varied cultural or lifestyle backgrounds.

Explaining the conflict and peace process in Northern Ireland  

A talk and question and answer session with Dr David Mitchell, Trinity College, Dublin. This event is organised in partnership with the Migrant and Ethnic Minority Peace Builders in Northern Ireland Project and aims at giving members of ethnic and minority communities  a better understanding of the Northern Ireland context. Good Relations Week Reminiscence Storytelling  

As part of Good Relations week and Positive Ageing month Derry Central Library shall host a Reminiscence Storytelling session.  Staff members shall use an assortment of olden Derry photographs, maps and artefacts from our local history department and help customers travel down memory lane and share stories. Folding Friendships: Origami Creations for Connection  

Set sail on a creative journey this Good Relations Week as we celebrate the theme of CONNECT through the art of origami! Children are invited to join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where we’ll be folding colourful boats, hearts, and foxes. Once complete, these special origami creations will be shared with library customers when they borrow books, spreading messages of connection and positivity throughout our community.

Good Relations Week - 'Community Connect Fun Afternoon'  

Join us in Garvagh Library to celebrate Good Relations Week. This year the theme is Connect, so we are delighted to invite all the family to come and connect with your local community at our 'Community Connection Fun Afternoon'. We will be offering a selection of activities including our lovely library staff reading a collection of diverse stories for children aged 4-8. Afterwards, add your handprint to our Friendship Bouquet display and make your very own friendship bracelet in our craft event. For adults, there will be tea and coffee available alongside board games and mindful colouring. Call in for a cuppa and a chat while having some fun with those in your community.
